First off, forgive me if I dont always use the right the addams family musical full disclosure language. Ill try to explain everything in a way that people who know about this stuff will get what I mean. Ive had a Westinghouse HDTV for a few years, never had any problems with it. Recently, I bought a Vizio Blu Ray player first time Ive ever hooked up a Blu Ray player to this TV. I also have basic cable and a Nintendo Wii, which have been hooked up together for a while with no problems. So right now I have the Vizio, the Wii and the cable TV hooked up. Vizio with an HDMI cable, Wii with the three-pronged, red, white and yellow cord and cable with the cable hookup the cable compnay provided; just basic, standard. About a week after all this was set up, I started noticing occasional pink and green snowy static on the picture. At first, it was only when wathcing TV. Then it popped up while my son was watching a DVD not a Blu Ray disc, but on the Blu Ray player. It still happens only occasionally, and still mostly while watching TV. Ive yet to notice it while watching a Blu Ray disc. So: any ideas? I did a little research and it seems the HDMI cable could be the issue, but then why would it happen while watching TV, which runs through another cable, with the Blu Ray player off? I really hope its not my TV. It does seem like a strange coincidence that it started happening right after I changed over to the Blu Ray/HDMI setup. Thanks for any and all suggestions! Location: Northern California, USA Probably not an HDMI problem. Faulty HDMI cables show pixelation or fail to lock at all. Is your cable TV coming from an RF coax or other? Is there a cable box? Pink and green issues are often related to tuner issues or NTSC decoding errors. This shouldnt be happening on the HDMI input. Recommends: Loans that change lives. I know this is slightly off topic but you do know they have component cables for the Nintendo Wii? I have one and I have a westinghouse hdtv that has two component input connections. The component cable adapter for the Wii will cost a little bit but you will get a better picture than the regular rca cables that come with the system. Just fyi. Donatello The Shredder? Michelangelo Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw? Yeah its an RF coax, provided by the cable company. No cable box. It has mostly happened while watching cable TV, but as I said occasionally while watching DVDs on the Blu Ray player. Never, so far, while watching a Blu Ray disc. If its a tuner or NTSC decoding error dont know what that means, BTW have any suggestions for something I could do to fix it? If it just happened on the RF input I would suspect the TV tuner or NTSC decoder. If you are certain it is happenting over HDMI also, that points to a more serious TV failure. Usually problems like this get worse over time. One thing I would try is remove all inputs except HDMI and continuously play a disc. If the problem is seen without any RF cable or composite Wii connections, then Id take it to a service shop. If the problem isnt seen with just an HDMI digital connection, you may be able to use the TV with an HD cable box HDMI out until you can afford a replacement TV. Recommends: Loans that change lives.
